The Stress of Business Travel
Business travel is certainly one of the trade-offs for a high-powered executive position in a nationwide or global enterprise. And while many people love to travel for pleasure – traveling for business is different.
There was a time when business travel was considered well…glamorous even! Who didn’t like to get away from the daily routine of sitting at a desk, given the opportunity to travel to a new place and see some sights in between some sporadic “ho-hum” business meetings? Well the times they are a’ changing! Now, with laptops, wireless Internet, e-mail, phones and every other type of mobile device – business travel no longer affords the busy business executive any “down” time!
And with having to arrive at airports so early to clear the myriad of security checks, delayed or cancelled flights and jet lag, who wouldn’t be stressed out by business travel? Not to mention the stress that business travel puts on the family situation and your home life!
So…what can you do about it?  Read More

It’s All About Time
The Sixth Principle in Chiropractic states there is no process which does not require time, including the healing process. BJ Palmer (the developer of Chiropractic) believed that with time and clarity in the nerve system, the body could heal itself in just about any situation.

A sick cell is replaced by a healthy one – healthy cells become healthy tissues – healthy tissues become healthy organs – healthy organs make a healthy human being. The conversion from sickness to wellness is an innate process that can only be performed by the doctor within you, via a well toned nerve system.
Healing is therefore a process of RE-creating yourself, one cell at a time, over a period of time. The power that made your body is more than capable of converting you from sickness to wellness. All it needs is a clear pathway and enough sand in the hour glass to accomplish it  (via theweeklysticky.com)

Good News About Chocolate!
Chocoholics take heart – literally that is! Seems that a bit of the old chocolate bar might actually be good for the ticker! Finally, a comfort food that we can all live with – in moderation of course!

Several studies have concluded that the flavonoids in dark chocolate may actually be beneficial to your health in numerous ways. These studies don’t exactly suggest that you run out and consume five or six bars of chocolate! Certainly not, given that the sugar and fat content of most chocolate would actually have a detrimental effect on your health.
However, various research studies, conducted in the U.S. and Switzerland, have concluded that chocolate flavonoids give short bursts of energy to the brain and are useful in combating fatigue and sleep deprivation. In fact, they may even counter the effects of aging, such as dementia, because they increase the flow of blood to the brain!  Read More

Let Your Kids Heal Themselves?
Years ago, Louis Pasteur “discovered” the “germ theory,” and the rest is history! The gist of the theory? That germs cause disease and that exposure to germs makes a person sick. What matters is the presence of germs - they cause disease – it’s just that simple… and it’s just that wrong!
Even on his deathbed, Pasteur stated that it was not germs that caused diseases, but rather the environment (body) in which the germs were found that contributed to the cause of disease. In other words – there had to be fertile soil for a germ “seed” to grow and manifest into a disease.
Parents today are starting to understand that children need exposure to germs to gain appropriate, natural immunity. In fact, many believe that the increase in childhood allergies and asthma may be a by-product of “germophobic” parents!
When we give antibiotics that only attack the symptoms of disease, we are actually fighting the body’s natural lines of protection, and making it harder for our children to heal properly. When we allow our children’s bodies to heal themselves, we enable them to become more resilient and far more capable of resisting the onslaught of germs in the future.
So…what we need to focus on is keeping our children’s immune systems functioning properly so germs don’t find a willing host in which to thrive. As parents, we do this by encouraging proper nutrition, sleep, exercise and optimal nerve supply to the immune system with regular chiropractic care. Only then can we truly move forward, past the flawed germ “theory” to a true state of health and wellness.
